The phone fold is the landing page
Published:
On a phone, the first screen is the whole landing page. If the offer and one primary action are below a second scroll, you are not running a mobile site. You are running a cropped desktop. Dual sticky bars, hover-only nav, and a hero image taller than the viewport waste paid mobile clicks. Evergreen how-to: Mobile conversion.
What the thumb has to see
Check 23: mobile fold still shows offer + CTA. Long pages may keep a reachable primary (sticky is OK) if it respects safe-area-inset and does not cover errors. Two filled stickies clipped by iOS Safari are a leak, not a “complete” header.
Check 24: speed and layout stability. Large shifts or a multi-second blank hero kill paid traffic. SiteRevenue never invents Core Web Vitals. Use Lighthouse / CrUX on the same URL ads hit. Use us for the money path. Use both.
Check 25: core copy in HTML. If a chat widget, geo wall, or bot challenge is the only way to see the offer, the public page failed. We do not scan logged-in product.
Tap targets follow WCAG 2.2 2.5.8 (24px minimum). Inputs ≥16px. That is path, not a fake INP number on the scorecard.
New full jobs emit Mobile (0–10, higher = healthier). Older jobs may say Mobile Path.
The sample is illustrative. Your live capture is your URL, fail-open if the shot misses.
Desktop-first is how CPA inflates
Teams QA on a 1440px laptop, ship, then buy mobile. The H1 truncates. The primary starts under the fold. The sticky dual pill covers the form. Media blames the auction. The fold was never tested at 390px.
Hero and CTA leaks show up first on a phone. Fix those before you chase the last four Lighthouse points.
How to ship this week
- Cold read the campaign URL in a private window at phone width.
- Offer + one filled primary in the first screen, in HTML.
- One sticky at most;
env(safe-area-inset-bottom). - Kill hover-only menus on the money path.
- Re-audit after CDN/cache. Empty re-runs burn a credit.
What this is not
- Not a Lighthouse report. We do not emit LCP/INP/CLS. We will not fake a 94.
- Not an accessibility certificate. 24px targets are a conversion check, not a WCAG audit.
- Not Ads OAuth. Public HTML only.
- Not a performance SLA.
